Part 1 begins with going to Unidentified Insurance Company

I live in Forest Hills and the office that I went to was in North Hampstead. I put on my best pair of stockings, a sexy black skirt, and unfortunately I dressed in the dark, so the blazer I picked to go with the skirt was dark navy blue and revealed it’s true color to me as I was standing in the sun.

I knew I was going for an interview for a sales position. But it was the only interview I had had lined up for myself in about a year. I ended up taking three busses to the place. It is a long, long way from my part of Queens to long Island by public transportation. While I was waiting for the third bus to come, I said to myself “c’mon, why don’t you just go home? you’ve got other things to do” but the other part of me said “No! You’re almost there! How bad would you feel if you almost got there and just turned back?”

When I got off the bus, a woman who also got off the bus, “Nicole” told me she loved my stockings, and I thanked her and we talked of this and that, she works in the area at a credit union, and she helped me find my way to the Unidentified Insurance Company office. Note to Self: sexy stockings make conversation starters.

I was about 15 minutes early and the recruiter saw me almost immediately and the sales pitch commenced.

He was a nice guy and he welcomed me and it has been so long since I’ve been welcomed or made to feel welcome. I sat there on the chair and I thought about a possible job selling Insurance. Maybe I have a hidden talent for it! Forget the lemonade stand that went bankrupt! The three days when I was a waitress! The time I tried to pitch an advertising opportunity to people, that I don’t even remember what it was! I could study financial things! I could be successful! I could make up to 100,000 dollars a year!!!!

But first I had to convince my husband that we needed a car.
